Easter Newsletter 2013

Dear Friends,

As Easter approaches and we prepare to rejoice in the resurrection it seems a good time to reflect a bit on our mission together. Easter is the celebration of death being transformed into new life. We are all ready and willing to celebrate new life, the challenge is in the realization that new life first required a death. Rather something new always requires us to relinquish something old. As we consider the new life of Christ that our faith is offering us in this Easter season as individuals; I hope we can also consider the lives of our beloved friends in Africa.

NOSIM MAASAI MISSION is a 501-C-3 Christian charity dedicated to the preservation, education and general welfare of the Maasai people and other indigenous tribes of Kenya, Africa

img085Mwenda is 5 years old. She is the younger of two daughters. Her father earns a meager wage as an ordained Methodist minister. Faith, Mwenda’s mother, is a university student on the Nosim scholarship program. Mwenda is very creative and eager to attend primary school. The boarding school Nosim is hoping to put Mwenda in has wonderful teacher/student ratio and is very conducive to learning. You can sponsor Mwenda or a child like her for $30 a month. Your money would be going towards: tuition, food, books uniform, and room and board.

NMM opened a Rescue Center, called “The Nosim Home”, which will be a safe sanctuary for young girls of High School age, to save them from early marriage and female circumcision. The girls will live at the home during the breaks and holidays from school. When they are on breaks, they will be trained in sex education, independent living skills, financial management, and proactive Christianity as well as individual and group counseling.

IssakThis young man that you see in the photo came to NMM when he was in the 4th grade. At the time, Isaak was refusing to attend school because he had no school uniform. NMM purchased a uniform for the young boy, and the result is what you see in the picture. He is young man who graduated from the 8th grade at our Ole Ki Munke primary school in January of this year. Isaak was among 5 of the Nosim boys who took the national examine for high school and scored #1 in their district. You can help him and others like him by sponsoring for High school for $60 a month.

Stewardship can often help more than donations. Can you give your time and talents?

John 11:25-26
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.” Do you believe this?
